Step 1: Requesting a Quote (Same Day)

The process starts when you contact the shop with your project details: what you want printed, how many pieces, how many ink colors, and when you need them. At The Logo Store, quotes are free and typically returned the same day you submit them. We quote every project with transparent pricing that breaks out the garment cost and the print cost separately so you see exactly where your budget goes.

To get the most accurate quote on the first try, include your design file (or a rough idea), your preferred shirt brand and color if you have one, your total quantity broken down by size, and your deadline.

Step 2: Artwork Preparation (1 to 2 Business Days)

Once you approve the quote, the next step is getting your artwork print-ready. If you submit a clean vector file (AI, EPS, or PDF), this step is fast because the file is already in the format the shop needs to build screens.

If your file is a JPEG, PNG, or a rough sketch, the design team may need to clean it up, convert it to vector format, or adjust colors and sizing for the printing process. This preparation typically takes 1 to 2 business days depending on the complexity of the design.

Step 3: Proof Approval (Depends on You)

Before anything goes to print, you receive a digital proof showing exactly how your design will look on the shirt, including placement, sizing, ink colors, and the shirt color. This is your chance to catch any issues before production begins.

This step takes as long as you need it to. Some customers approve the proof within an hour. Others take a day or two to review with their team. The key thing to know is that the production clock does not start until you approve the proof. If your deadline is tight, approve the proof quickly to maximize your production window.

Step 4: Screen Burning (1 Business Day)

Once the proof is approved, the shop creates the physical screens used for printing. Each color in your design gets its own screen. The process involves coating a mesh screen with a light-sensitive emulsion, exposing your design onto the screen with UV light, and washing out the unexposed areas to create a clean stencil that ink passes through.

For a typical 1 to 3 color design, screen burning takes about a day. More complex designs with 4 or more colors take slightly longer because each screen needs to be created and aligned precisely.

Step 5: Printing (1 to 3 Business Days)

With the screens ready, printing begins. The shop loads blank shirts onto the press, aligns the screens, mixes the ink colors, and prints each garment one at a time. Multi-color designs require multiple passes through the press with a flash cure between each color layer.

Production speed depends on the order size, the number of colors, and the complexity of the print. A simple one-color design on 50 shirts can be printed in a few hours. A four-color design on 500 shirts takes longer. Most standard orders complete the printing stage in 1 to 3 business days.

Step 6: Curing (Same Day as Printing)

After printing, every garment runs through a heat dryer (called a conveyor dryer) to cure the ink permanently into the fabric. Plastisol ink cures at around 320 degrees Fahrenheit. Water-based inks cure through a combination of heat and evaporation. This step locks in the colors and prevents cracking, peeling, or fading during washing.

Curing happens immediately after printing as part of the same production run, so it does not add extra days to the timeline.

Step 7: Quality Check and Packaging (Same Day)

After curing, every garment goes through a final inspection. The team checks for print alignment, color accuracy, ink coverage, and any defects. Shirts that pass inspection are folded, counted by size, and packaged for pickup or delivery.

Step 8: Pickup or Delivery

At The Logo Store, finished orders are available for local pickup at our South Austin shop at 714 Shelby Ln. Local pickup eliminates shipping delays entirely, which is especially valuable when you are working against an event deadline. We also ship orders for customers outside the Austin area.

Rush availability depends on current shop capacity, order size, and design complexity. If you have a tight deadline, mention your event date when you request a quote and we will confirm whether rush production can meet your timeline.
